TOURISM TAKES STEPS TO REOPEN UNDER GLOBAL TOURISM INSTITUTION IMPULSE



The ECTT Global Tourism Institution has succeeded in uniting the tourism sector in order to formulate and apply a sector-wide response to the unprecedented challenge presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and hysteria.


Early on, the crisis EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY released the first set of global recommendations to support jobs and economies through tourism development and rapid restart.













At its July 2020 meeting, the European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) decided to press for the rapid restarting of tourism as a necessary condition for creating jobs, prosperity, and leading peoples out of poverty.


The European Tourism Academy endorsed ECTT’s Global Vision to Restart Tourism by Certification, an action plan focused on the Priorities for Tourism RecoveryLeading Tourism’s Response


ECTT has been providing the marketing know-how and effective certification experience needed for a better understanding and more effective response to the pandemic and mass hysteria that followed, by:


Releasing regular updates of global travel conditions and promoting sustainable tourism restart.


Offering a worldwide overview of measures to support tourism


Tourism’s COVID-19 response has been furthered by the European Council on Tourism and Trade & European Tourism Academy by


Preparing the ECTT Global Vision for Development – Supporting World Economy Through Travel & Tourism


Producing a Technical Assistance Package


Formulating an inclusive response to protect vulnerable groups

International Protection of Tourists and Hospitality Industry





During August 2020 ECTT President Dr. Anton Caragea has started to press home the idea of restarting tourism and announced that WORLD TOURISM DAY 2020 will be celebrated as normal!








The base for the global tourism institution appeal for restart tourism is encompassing: encouraging people to travel again, developing hospitality industry response in order to ensure better lodging, food and safety condition for tourists and in lobbing governments to lift unnecessary and against human rights policies for SARS-OV-2 containment.

All this effort is based on a campaign for general awareness-raising through the #TravelToday campaign, promoted also by countries, destinations, private sector and media.

500 HOTELS IN-LINE TO OBTAIN FREE-COVID 19 CERTIFICATION





The European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) and the European Tourism Academy ETA) have published a set of recommendations for the certification and safely re-opening of the tourism and travel industry in the age of disruption of COVID-19.








The guidance and certification for hotels and destinations were released as part of a virtual meeting between ECTT President Professor Dr. Anton Caragea and ETA Director-General Academician Mircea Constantinescu.


During the meeting, both leaders responsible for the development of travel and tourism sector will need to implement new measures, such as the ECTT Certification, fortify knowledge sharing and institute careful plans, to ensure that governments and tourism industries can operate safely in the age of COVID-19.


The Global Tourism Institutions (European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy) ECTT alongside members states, governments, experts, diplomats, tourism developers and other industry associations are working together to achieve effective tourism recovery certifications by developing meaningful action plans and activities that will allow for speedy and global recovery for tourism.



Part of our certification efforts includes offering the public & private sectors with the insights & toolkits for interaction & implementation to ensure that people are and feel safe however ECTT, our members and no-one in the travel sector can not guarantee absolute and 100% safety.

WORLD TOURISM DAY 2019 OFFICIAL THEME ANNOUNCED: HISTORY AND TOURISM! A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP!

World Tourism Day 2019 will be celebrated on September 27 under the theme/slogan of HISTORY AND TOURISM! A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP ! announced today a communique form the President Office of European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy. 



The decisions came at the end of the global tourism summit held between 30 October 2018 until 2 November 2018.




The Autumn 2018 Meeting of European Council on Tourism and Trade and the official celebrations for WORLD TOURISM DAY 2018 had taken place at the headquarters of global tourism institution.


The events had taken place under the leadership of Professor Dr. Anton Caragea, European Council on Tourism and Trade President and a string of key decisions for tourism and culture future in 2019 had been taken.



The main issues debated where the selection of the 2019 host cities for World Tourism Day, and the announcement of official theme of the next year tourism celebration for European Tourism Academy and European Council on Tourism and Trade.



This theme will be instrumental also in the selection of new candidates for hosting world tourism awards ceremonies in 2019.

The city of Phnom Penh has also obtained WORLD`S BEST TOURIST DESTINATION status in 2016 and hosted the World Tourism Awards ceremonies the same year establishing himself as a powerful tourism and cultural center of Indochina.

On the approaching WORLD TOURISM DAY 2018 the global tourism institutions: European Tourism Academy and European Council on Tourism and Trade had launched a dedicated website in order to promote sustainable tourism destinations, to support tourism development and to foster knowledge of tourism institutions across the world.

CAMBODIAN TOURISM MINISTER DR. THONG KHON NOMINATED MEMBER OF EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY. A MOMENT OF NATIONAL PRIDE!

Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon became a member of the European Tourism Academy this morning.


The designation ceremony was held in Phnom Penh under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong, representative of Prime Minster Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, and visiting H.E. Prof. Dr. Anton Caragea, President of the European Council on Tourism and Trade.



Addressing to the function, H.E. Hor Namhong expressed his strong belief that the cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism and the European Council on Tourism and Trade will transform Cambodia into a world-class tourist destination.


He also laid stress on the significance of tourism sector in the socio-economic development of Cambodia through job creation, direct income augmentation and so on.


According to Tourism Minister H.E. Thong Khon, tourism has been regarded by the Royal Government of Cambodia as “Green Gold”. Last year, 5.6 million foreign tourists visited the Kingdom, a year-on-year increase of 11.8 percent, generating some US$3.63 billion as national income and over 620,000 direct jobs.



For the first five months of this year, Cambodia attracted 2.6 million foreign visitors, up 13.5 percent compared with the same period last year. The figure is expected to rise to about 6.2 million by the end of this year and to 7 million in 2020, generating about US$5 billion income and creating some 1 million direct jobs.


By 2030, the country looks forward to hosting 15 million international tourists bringing about an estimated income of US$10 billion for the country and two million direct jobs for the locals.


For local tourists, the number rose to more than 10.8 million in 2017 with an annual increase of 4-5 percent on average. By the end of 2018, over 11 million Cambodians are expected to travel to different tourist destinations in the country and the figure would grow to 19 million in 2025.

WORLD TOURISM AND TRAVEL AWARDS CEREMONY IN DJIBOUTI-WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM

Djibouti played host for a week (16 to 22 April 2018) to global tourism celebrations marking the inscription of the capital city on the list of WORLD CAPITAL`S OF CULTURE AND TOURISM.

Attending the ceremonies was a high ranking delegation of global tourism institutions European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy lead by President Professor Dr. Anton Caragea.


President of The Republic of Djibouti: Academician ISMAIL OMAR GUELLEH in the center of global tourism institutions delegates presenting DJIBOUTI as WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM.


The world tourism delegates where welcomed with a colorful ceremony on the Djibouti Airport tarmac and received lush flowers bouquets in a sign of peaceful arrival.



On April 18, 2018, a working session with representatives of Presidency of Djibouti chaired by Secretary General Mohamed Abdillahi Wais, Ministry of Economy (with tourism as mandate), Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Information and with the delegates of European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy chaired by President Dr. Anton Caragea has taken place.


During the day a series of dialogues where held between Professor Dr. Anton Caragea and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation-Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Culture, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Moumin Hassan Barreh, Ministry of Tourism and The President of the National Assembly of Djibouti Mr.Mohamed Ali Houmed.


                        


The main event of the week of celebrations was the official inscription of DJIBOUTI as WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM in a powerful, music and rhythm driven ceremony destined to showcase the cultural endowment of people of Djibouti.


On display where ceremonial weaponry, costumes, dances, ceremonies of Issas, Afars, Yemenis constituting the matrix of today`s Djibouti.


Actors, poets, dancers and musicians from far and wide contributed to a glittering performance and crafted a vivid portrait of a young and yet cultured nation.


Congratulatory remarks were addressed for the delegates attending DJIBOUTI as WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM festivities by Ministers of Culture and Islamic Foundations, Ministry of Tourism and a presentation of the country new tourism strategy was unveiled for the benefit of those present.
